ABOUT

Ryan Wermich is a filmmaker whose passion for the industry stems from a childhood obsession with books and movies, heavily influenced by his father, an art fanatic and furniture collector. Realizing in college that a camera could be his ticket to traveling the world, he cut his teeth doing documentary work in the non-profit space. Raised in Southern California and having attended school with child actors, he now resides in Costa Mesa, balancing his professional work with his personal passions as a triathlete and nature explorer. Today, his work spans outdoor action sports and intimate documentaries, always driven by a desire to reach people's hearts and change minds.

"I've had clients tell us how happy they are they chose Ryan. His work is good but his real talent is his special ability to connect with patients in a way that makes them feel safe, and comfortable in front of a camera. "

A Viewpoint Rooted in Resilience

Ryan brings a deeply personal and compassionate perspective to human-interest and resilience narratives. His path into directing has been heavily influenced by seeing loved ones navigate severe medical challenges.

Navigating Chronic Care | A childhood shaped by the complexities of his father’s Type 1 diabetes and the reality of countless hospital visits before his father's passing.

Resilience in the Face of Adversity | Witnessing his cousin survive childhood spinal cancer to navigate life in a wheelchair profoundly informs his work with athletes redefining life after catastrophic injuries.

Documentary Grit | A background in capturing intense international stories, from orphanages to child brothels, bringing emotional intelligence to projects requiring a director to do a lot with a little.
